On December 1, 2001, Mexico's new President, Vicente Fox, named Andrés Rozental as Ambassador-at-Large and Special Presidential Envoy. He is President of Rozental & Asociados, a leading niche consultancy whose mission is to assist select companies Rozental & Asociado's clients are multinational groups in the telecommunications, energy, steel, financial services and media sectors from both Europe and North America. They include Deutsche Bank's Latin American Companies Trust; Teléfonos de México; Hutchison Telecom; Barclays Bank; Hakluyt & Company; The International Fund for Animal Welfare; Spencer Stuart, Celsius Group (Sweden), Enterprise IG (part of the WPP Group), Decision Strategies/Fairfax International (DSFX), Alstom (France) and Toyota Motor Sales (USA). Rozental is Chairman of Grupo Industrial Omega, a diversified Mexican industrial group, and holds non-executive directorships in several major European companies and financial institutions. He is a member of the Board of Aeroplazas, a Mexican airport management group with interests in Puerto Vallarta, Guadalajara and Los Cabos international airports. With his broad international experience, he is a leading authority on international issues, often quoted by European, US and Mexican analysts and journalists. He has authored numerous articles and two books on his country's foreign policy and international affairs. Rozental is a former Deputy Foreign Minister of Mexico (1988- 1994), with a long and distinguished career, including as Ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, Sweden and the United Kingdom. He has his BA from the University of the Americas in Mexico City and a Masters in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania (Wharton). He is a part-time professor of international relations at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM). He also serves on the National Editorial Board of the Reforma newspaper, on the international relations academic board of the Universidad Iberoamericana and on the boards of the British-Mexican Chamber of Commerce and Anglo-Mexican Cultural Institute.
