Messaging and Media Training
Communication Audits

A set of clear and consistent messages is essential to any public or private sector organisation, which wishes to differentiate itself from others or develop a constructive dialogue with external audiences, such as investors, governments, nongovernmental organizations and the media.

Through its messaging workshops, TCA helps organisations ‘make their point’ and develop key messages that address the issues close to their audience. Through interactive, brainstorming sessions, TCA will help identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of each organisation and crystallise them into a set of clearly defined messages.

Areas on which TCA focuses, include:
• The key principles of persuasion
• What makes a good message
• Tips for articulating your message
• The importance of knowing your audience(s)
• How to change or reinforce perception

Messaging workshops are frequently combined with media training to enable participants immediately to use the messages developed in the context of media interviews.

Success in reaching the media, as well as the messages executives deliver, can have a fundamental impact on the perception of the organisation among its key audiences.

TCA provides a global resource for media and presentation skills training.

TCA’s training sessions prepare executives for communications opportunities, including: media interviews, speeches, presentations, press conferences, meetings, legislative hearings – in fact all engagement with stakeholders.
Business executives and officials from governments and international organisations are taught to control the interview and messages they deliver to an audience. Areas covered include media skill development, message delivery and role-play interview exercises in print and broadcast mediums, with an emphasis on consistency in messaging.

Instruction
TCA instructs clients on the world media; the differences from country-to-country; the respective cultures; the types of interviews; the ability to build bridges within an interview; and the different interviewing techniques. All this takes place within an interactive environment, with role-plays being employed to bring potential scenarios to life.

Videotape examples of "do’s" and "dont's"
A comprehensive and entertaining presentation illustrates the best techniques for handling the media’s questions.

Role Play
Realistic, videotaped role-play exercises simulate print, broadcast, satellite and telephone interviews. The role-play gives executives and officials the opportunity to practice and enhance their existing skills in a real-life environment.

Professional Critique and Feedback
As TCA videotapes and critiques all of the exercises, all participants have the opportunity to listen to the viability of their messaging and look at the image they’re projecting, including any critical body language and image issues.
